Lisa Dery: Music

All in White

(Lisa Dery, Phil Saatchi, Alex Wingham, Chris Haigh)
I wanted to write a humorous song about a wedding that goes wrong. The bride gets so caught up in the details of her wedding that she forgets to pay attention to her relationship. Now her husband's ex is back, and even though the wedding has been planned in minute detail, the whole celebration is threatened.
All in White (Lyrics)

All in white
Men in black and white
Maids in lavender
Violet flowers

The father of the bride stands tall
The mother of the groom’s tears’ fall
And the only thing that’s still unsure
Will the champagne be chilled enough when served

You are all in white
Princess of the night
Ready to unite
Become his loving bride

The reverend at the church speaks first
The choir follows as rehearsed
And the only thing that’s left to chance is the performance of your first dance

Did you ever know
There was a girl, he loved her so
She left him for another man
She’s come back for a second chance

You are all in white
Switching off the lights
Guests have cleared the space
Pity on their face

The brother of the groom made clear
A woman from the past appeared
And the groom to be became confused
Just didn’t know who he should choose

You are all in white
Planned everything just right
Linen tablecloths
Live orchestra

But you forgot one feature
Lack of devotion of your betrayer
To think the only thing that felt unsure
The colour chosen for your manicure
